Groom arrested for drink-driving TOY motorbike on stag do

A groom given a toy motorbike for his stag do was spotted by police wobbling down the road on it.

As James Whittaker left a bar he refused a pal’s offer to put the bike in his boot and give him a lift.

He rode to his best man’s house but police noticed him and followed him for a mile and a half.

A breathalyser test found a reading of 42mg in 100ml. The limit is 35mg.

The case was heard at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court

Whittaker’s lawyer said: “Stupidly he decided to get on the bike and set off.

“I’ve seen kids riding round on them and they’re tiny. It’s got an engine, is powered by petrol.”

At Kirklees magistrates court Whittaker, of Sowerby Bridge, West Yorks, admitted drink-driving in Honley.

He got a year’s ban and a £500 fine.
